The 2026 Legislative Session has officially adjourned. As always, we faced a high-stakes battle for your Second Amendment freedoms, and CCDL was on the front lines every step of the way.
Here is a quick breakdown of the session’s key bills:
- HB5436: Required a background check to buy simple firearm parts such as barrels and receivers. CCDL DEFEATED this bill before it could gain momentum.
- HB5533: A polling place carry ban that we fought tooth and nail to defeat was KILLED for the second time on the House floor.
- HB5454: An actual common-sense bill, supported by CCDL, designed to ensure towns issue permits in timely fashion, which we fought to advance was passed.
- HB 5043: A terrible bill that absorbed the language of HB5454 but seeks to ban America’s most popular pistols.
While we are disappointed by the late-night tactics used to pass the Glock Ban, we are incredibly proud of the victories we secured in an anti-gun majority. By killing two major threats and championing pro-2A language, CCDL continues to be the strongest advocate for your 2A rights in Hartford.
