7:25 A Comment on Social Media from our President
It's tremendously valuable to have a place for members to log on and chat.
We need to keep in mind that we're being watched. By people who don't agree with our position, by our legislators, by the media, etc.
We must be mindful of that fact and act appropriately. We need to project an image that appears above 'the fringe.'
We periodically sent out e-mails to our members, but in order to no spam our members we keep our updates fairly limited.
Our blog is available for quickly getting the word out on a number of important issues to our members. It's update daily and if you haven't subscribed to it, you should. (http://ccdl.us/blog)

7:40 Broad Themes on Litigation from Martha Dean
CCDL is an incredibly important part of this effort. If you want to contribute to this effort, donate to the CCDL.
Can't get into the specifics of the case or strategy at this time.
We'll likely be working with organizations who represenation gun owners as well as individuals directly impacted by this law.
Many lawyers have already volunteered to help, but we need to keep our team limited. we don't want to end up with 'too many cooks'. There are other ways you can help. Perhaps finding an organization/club/etc who's not involved but may want to file an amicus brief.
8:20 Break

8:42 Update on SB 1160 (Public Act 13-3)
It's interesting that there was a large police presence at Cabela's for our Lobby day.
Gun shop employee's did participate in efforts to oppose gun control. Some of them even gave up overtime pay to come to Hartford.
Either Cafero or McKinney told the public that legislators had at least 24 hours with the language, but we know the language changed a couple of times between Monday and Wednesday when it was debated.
There was no public hearing on this, no input from gun owners, and as such there are technical problems with the bill.
GET AN ATTORNEY. Talk to them about specific questions. They will be there to help you if you ever need to use your gun.
Most of the bill took place immediately upon signing. Only a few parts about registering and eligibility certificates take effect at some point in the future.

There may be issues you want raised with the legal team, but you have to remember that we can't fight everything. We need to count the judges and make sure we craft a case that can win.
